'85 brat.

Runs great.

Heater blows piss warm to cold (while moving).

Coolant flows easily thru core, no leaks.

All knobs and cables are hooked up and operational.

Just did a system flush and coolant change.

I'm suspecting thermostat now, or lack of one. It's all i have left.

Engine runs just a little on the cool side (NEVER reaches half way) but is rock steady.

Am i missing something?

Mark the top and bottom heater hoses with labels to identify "top" / "bottom".

disconnect both heater hoses from the core pipes,

reconnect in reverse order. check..

thats why i didnt have heat when my BRAT came to me.

Did that.

Correct order.

Have my '84 wagon as a model and it is a blast furnace!

Wagon does run hotter than the brat.

New T-stat next weekend. Can't hurt right?

Thanks anyways! :)

OEM thermostat only, from the Subaru dealer or online subaru retailer.

Mine did the same thing, I had NO thermostat. Put one in it, and worked like a charm

This realy works? does it help by pass a slight cloged core.. or what is it?

That's just to make sure the hoses didn't get reversed sometime in the cars life.

Hose reversal will not make any difference to a properly functioning core. The flow through the core can be any direction you like. Reversing it may have seemed to help due to dislodging some deposits inside the core or jammed in the heater core shut-off valve but ultimately it's just a simple radiator and the direction of flow has nothing to do with it's heat transfer abilities.

How have you tested flow rate through the core? And have you verified that there isn't a partial or complete blockage in the heater core bypass hose from the water pump?
