Caramanos2000
I bought a 9004 HID kit, can I just use the connector it comes with or do I have to solder the wires because the 87 GL is wired different?
crazyman03
to render a guess - the connector that it comes with should be the one to use. It goes with the bulb, should be the right gauge. If i remember correctly, you hook up the HID system to the end where the current bulbs go. and the HID Bulbs replace the stock bulbs. -Justin
eulogious
What kit did you buy? I am interested in doing this as well. Post your results with pics too please! I would like to see if it really is worth the price
Caramanos2000
Not a problem already have them up and running. I bought a Bi-Xenon kit off ebay it was $80 shipped priority (not from china). I will post pics tonight of the results
simple monkey
one thing about HID kit's is that they glare in headlights not designed for HID bulbs. Glare shields can easily be made for the bulb like the one in this link. http://www.elantraxd.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20195 with HID's installed, oncoming motorists should be kept in mind. Caramanos2000
I made something like that but slightly smaller and more rounded so I could fir it over the bulb. If I made it to big the light would hit it when I turned the high beams on :-\ Works now though, cant someone turn the sun off for a seocnd? suberdave
I bought a 9004 HID kit, can I just use the connector it comes with or do I have to solder the wires because the 87 GL is wired different? check your wires... most cars use one ground and two powers (one for high and one for low) Subarus use two grounds and one power. so you have to do some wiring to make it work. this is what i had to do when i installed HID's in my car...
