My new 2010 Outback - 2" hitch

Featured Replies

Ok some of you asked for pics - I promise they are coming but I haven't been home in the daylight - so watch for tomorrow.....

Anyway I need to put a 2" hitch on so I can cart around my bicycles with my Thule T2

Are the DIYers safe? Curt, Hidden Hitch or Draw Tite?

Here's a teaser pic:

i don't know for sure, but i doubt that they make a 2" hitch for a subaru. they might, but i can't imagine ....

but you can get a standard 1 & 1/4 inch and then add a 2" adapter.

I love hidden hitch.

Are you talking about a 2" ball?

Check the link in the first thread YO!

??

I installed a hidden hitch on my 97, it was very easy. I just dont understand what you mean by 2" aside from the reciever. The Hitches on the link say they are 2"

yeah, 2" receiver as opposed to 1 1/4. My bike rack is a Thule T2 - designed for a 2" opening.

The part that makes me nervous is this:

Also, all three say "Exhaust must be temporarily lowered for installation, Minor heat shield modification may be required."

Although I'm not doing it myself - I'd get help......

The exhaust rides right up against the uniframe, so you just disconnect a couple of the exhaust hangers so you can work. Then you reconnect them back up when you're done working on it.

+1 on the rubber exhaust hangers. Not a big deal for the DIYer.

Just be glad you got the Outback. The 09 & 10 Foresters... you have to remove the rear bumper cover and reinforcement to install the hitch. :-\
