Looking for a link with pics on how to convert the Loyale to RWD. I started messing with an old CV axle, but not sure if there is a trick to removing internals on the outer shaft assembly and then using the external body to hold it all together. And any input on whether its worth it for the "fun" factor.

Also thoughts on converting my belt driven fan to a electric fan. Minute power gains? Wire it up as an on off switch, or variable speed? And what fans have you used? Will another stock electric fan clear on the drivers side? Thanks

If im not being clear let me know.

You'd have to either destroy the cage which retains the bushings in the CVJ, or cut the axleshaft off flush with the CVJ cup. The metal is quite strong so it may be easier to cut the axleshafts.

Then, install the CVJ ends as if they were whole axles, with the axle nut & hub and everything.

Also, your transmission may not like this. But it could be a lot of fun.

You actually don't have to destroy the cage, or cut the axle shaft to get it out.

There is a snap ring at the end of the axle shaft INSIDE the joint. If you put the assembly in a vise, and use a slidehammer on the axle shaft, you can usually get the snap ring to pop off. Once the axle shaft is out, you just need to puzzle around with the cage and the balls till you can get everything out.

Step 1: Hold your axle by the shaft, with the outer joint pointed down.

Step 2: Grab the largest hammer in the drawer and start beating on the backside of the CV joint until the joint seperates from the shaft.

Watch your toes.

Re-install the hub portion of the CV joint... drive your car in 4WD and you now have a RWD subaru.
