Clunking/Banging noise in 05 Baja when in gear

Recommended Posts

Hey,

Did a little romping in the snow this weekend, as always my car's abilities amazed me. However, when coming down the mountain I noticed some clunking/banging noise that seems to be coming from my transmission or drivetrain. The noise only seems to be there when the car is in gear, moving with the throttle disengaged, below ~2k RPM. Throwing in the clutch immediately stops the noise, and there's no noise in neutral. I didn't hit anything while the aforementioned romping was occurring, no visible damage to the underside of the car. I've got ~130k miles on it, all stock, never had a problem like this before. Any ideas?

Thanks.
