Well,

My Brat just turned into a lawn ornament for the Foreseeable Future... Blown Head Gasket. got to love Subaru's!

What are the symtoms? With EA81s headgaskets are usually the last thing to think about. You sure its not the intake gaskets?

Well milkshake and backpressure. Seems to run ok except for the white smoke billowing out from every were.

And its a fresh rebuild from a board member. I'm sitting at my favorite restuarant beth's cafe recouping debating if I can fix it today

Hi Zach.

Sorry for the hard times- you haven't driven on it long enough to be overdue on the 2nd retorque have you? I didn't think you've had it installed long enough (@1k miles it would have been due IIRC)

I know I sold it as-is, but I feel bad. If you could get it back to me w/ a gasket(s) I'd be willing to put them on- pain in the rump roast for you, but it's what I can offer. I would also ask you foot the bill for milling if it turns out to be needed.

Give me a call if you want to talk, I don't work till later today.

Checked it out, And redid the head gaskets today and got instant Milkshake. We checked the heads. didn't mill them.... but checked them according to the spec. Torqued it 5 over all the way around. I'm assuming its a cracked head. (passenger side.) So I'm looking for a Long Block. or a EJ22 SWAP I'm gonna focus on my Legacy Sedan now...

May have found a JDM Engine.

EDIT:: Purchased JDM Engine, Very Nice looking Only missing Alternator, But has PS Pump, and AC Compressor. So I would have those options I could add in the future. I'm out $600 but its warrantied for a year so I'm happy. I'm gonna swap my intake onto it... and get it installed here pretty soon.

If someone Wants the PS Pump or the AC compressor and bracket LET ME know.

It is Pretty... Blue Waterpump and all...

Other than a PS top view pic of one with power steering, I don't recall seeing a pic of the setup on an EA-81. That's some bracketry there for it.

Clean looking engine....

Wow Ea81 engines are still available in the japenese domestic market, cool, may trade in my "pos" ea82 for one

I called 4 different JDM places, all over the country, and 2 here. And Foreign engines in Lynnwood had this one. $575 with a one year warranty.

And I'm still trying to find an EA81T!!!

Ah man this seems its gonna be a lot harder than I thought...

Well, at least you found one.

Not a T, but better than nothing.

Well, I'm just replacing the front and rear seals. The headgaskets are warrantied for 30 days if I just install it, if I flow test and check the Radiator, its warrantied for one year.

Well got it installed today... tomorrow is intake and everything else. I'll take pictures tomorrow.
