Wheel Bearings ea82/81 swap.

Featured Replies

Will ea82(fwd) front wheel bearings fit into the knuckle of an ea81(4wd)rear or front? I know I should just buy new ones but I have a set that are ok, and want to save some cash.

The front wheel bearings are the same for EA81 and EA82 but the inner seal is different.

If the set of bearing that you are referring to are already in a knuckle, getting them out without damaging the bearings maybe challenging.

Rear's are completely different.

The bearings are like $5 to $10 each. And you aren't going to remove them without damageing them. You have to press on the inner race to remove them from the knuckle and that transmits the force through the balls - basically destroying the bearings.

.......transmits the force through the balls........

When things of that nature occur, I've ALWAYS found it to be destructive.........:D
