March 30, 201016 yr My parents have a place in Florance and my brother wants to build a bugy. Then I just heard today about some poeple running gutted out subarus on atv paddle has full time sand cars. Does any one here know of this practice or ever seen it done? Running a little subie out there sound a lot cheaper way to go then building or buying a buggy. Any thoughts or tips on this would be great.

March 30, 201016 yr Author NO WAY My brother has a picture of that car on his cell phone. He seen that car in a parking lot some place and had to show it to me how cool.
March 30, 201016 yr There's also discussion in the off road forum about an ATV wheel that's very close to fitting the EA bolt pattern. Might come in handy if you're determined to use proper sand tires.

March 30, 201016 yr NO WAY My brother has a picture of that car on his cell phone. He seen that car in a parking lot some place and had to show it to me how cool. I dont have a good picture here but I took a a ea82 wagon and chopped off all unneeded weight added a 2" lift and it went good in the sand, the second pic is it but its a photoshop pic, anyway you can make a cheep fun sand rig, a few things to remember, Weight, remove all dont add any tires wide not narrow, I ran 5-9 Lbs psi at the dunes Power more the better, keep that engine cool, keep us posted
April 2, 201016 yr I don't do sand only...I throw in a little dirt and snow too. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/album.php?albumid=54 It's possible to run a Subie on ATV tires.
April 13, 201015 yr My WRX wagon and my brothers STI went anywhere in the sand. We ran Michelin Rally Tyres at 10 psi....of course this is the expensive route. But we did do 150 miles in the sand in 2 days, drove the cars there and back home 4 hours away.
