Brat Fuel Filter Orientation

I have a newbie question.

 

The fuel filter on my new Brat needs to be replaced.

The one that is currently on it is not the oem style.

 

Should the filter be mounted with the hoses at the bottom of the filter or at the top, or does it matter?

The Fuel Filter Must have a Pointing Arrow, which indicates the Fuel Flow... That Arrow is the Filter's Outlet and must be Hooked to the Hose that Brings Fuel to the Carb.

I'm aware of the fuel flow direction issue.

 

My concern was with the fact that the inlet and outlet ports are on the same end of the cylinder. I'm curious if those are supposed to on the top end of the filter after it's mounted in place, or on the bottom end.

Typically the ports go on top and the canister is to the bottom. Gravity then helps keep debris from flowing through as easily.

Yes - ports on the top on the rear filter.
