December 30, 201015 yr I have a set of Pugs that I bought today... They are 15s. I need tires (that will fit a GL with no lift) I want low pro, or Legacy tires... Will these fit? Also... They are not all 4 the same wheels, same design, but two were made in a different place than the other two. Will this make a difference in 4WD?
December 30, 201015 yr If they are all 15s then they shouldnt make a difference. I have 205/50R15s on my car, and I like the fit.
December 30, 201015 yr Author Do you have a picture? The GL is a 1986 Sedan. Painted Dark Blue (stock) I want to clean these pugs up, (they arent bad, just were painted black) and then paint them gold... Eventually I might paint the GL in Subaru blue like an STI But what will the pugs look like on those?
December 30, 201015 yr Right now, the car is in pieces, but if I can remember, ill snap another photo of it once its back on the road... if that ever happens Obviously this is a wagon not a sedan, but a wagon is a sedan with more glass Hope it gives you an idea EDIT: Hot Damn, look at that shine Oh and dont mind the cat in the lower left... that errr, is on the car always... Edited December 30, 201015 yr by beataru Hot damn, shes clean.
December 30, 201015 yr Author Lol that is a hot wagon Yours obviously is stock height, do you have any rubbing issues? Right now Ive got 185/70/13 on there... To go up to 205/50/15 seems like itd cause issues? Also: How expensive are tires for these? Whats good for traction? I want these to last...
December 30, 201015 yr I have 205 55 16 on mine (ea82 wagon) and it's lowered, I think you'd be fine with 205 50 15 at stock height. It should be a smaller combo than my 16" setup. Check this out, may be of help to you http://www.rimsntires.com/rt_specs.jsp Edited December 30, 201015 yr by obk25xt
December 30, 201015 yr Author Your wagon is my model I love the corner lights Hopefully by next WCSS Ill have my car painted Subaru Blue with these pugs gold (they will be gold by a few weeks from now)
December 30, 201015 yr I wanted a sedan to do what I did with my wagon, but I ended up with the wagon, I'm totally satisfied with the wagon look too. I have an idea for the sedan if you wanna add a clean spoiler to the trunk......
December 30, 201015 yr The one I have is white, came off a first gen MR2, I think it would look good on a sedan. Will fit a flat trunklid, which the sedan has. Fairly low profile and has 3rd brake light in it too. Would have to drill either 3 or 5 holes I can't quite remember. Edited December 30, 201015 yr by obk25xt
December 30, 201015 yr The wheels in my size will fit just fine. I am having rubbing issues on the front only when I go over a speedbump weird, but thats because my front springs are sagging a tiny bit, and the wheelwell plastic is starting to fall off. old piece of poo... Why do I love you?
December 30, 201015 yr Next time you're at GD's, look at what size the Brat's tires are. They keep the same diameter as stock, so the speedometer will only be as off as it came from the factory. With the favorable offset of the pugs, you probably won't have to cut anything. Jacob
December 30, 201015 yr I Drive my Weberized EA82 Wagon with 205/60 R 15" Tires without Rubbing. Those Tires are 25"
January 5, 201115 yr The numbers you need to know regarding the pugs are: Offset - difference between the stock 13's and the 15's Overall tire-wheel diameter - again the difference between the stock 185-70x13 and the 205-50x15 as mounted. I think the 205-50 will be close enough to the stock 185-70 in overall diameter to avoid clearance so the offset diff. might be the concern.
January 5, 201115 yr You are correct, they are pretty close to standard size, at least by my eye. I had the stock GL 4wd steel wagon wheels, next to my pugs, and they were pretty simmilar in overall size.
January 5, 201115 yr i had 14" pugs on my 88 dl s/r 4wd with 195/60 14 tires. these were very close to the stock(185/70 13) in overall diameter but much wider, and retained the correct speedometer readings and had the right size for what the trans was geared for. these tires were inexpensive as far as not being some crazy low profile.
