88rxsedan
well, i did use the search function, with no REAL solution... sometimes it surges, sometimes it dosent.. most of the time when i get down on it, not all the powers there but most of it is, it surges, then comes in after having it to the floor for a while.. sometimes.. Now, i made the mistake of adjusting the ignition timing without plugging in the connectors, because i dont know where they are or which one to plug in.. I dont know if its better or worse, but i havent played with anything else.. I just want it to run good, all the time.. not just when it feels like it.. Partsman
Hey, check out these PDF's of part of the 89 FSM. Page 130 of Part one has the timing procedure: http://www.finleyweb.net/docs/SubaruEA82-ServiceManualPart1.pdf and the description of the idle switch is somewhere in section2-7 of this part: http://www.finleyweb.net/docs/SubaruEA82-ServiceManualPart2.pdf
WJM
ive not read those yet....but here is my experience....with my knock sensor wires all fryed like they were...i surged. After I fixed that, no more surge. Ive adjusted the timing w/out following any procedure what-so-ever. Running warm, cold, hot, before warm up, etc...ive never had a surge issue, until the knock sensor was out of whack, and the i ran 87 octane fuel. Also, loose fuel pump connections will cause surge...as well as the fuel pressure not being stable....which involves that fuel pump.
88rxsedan
where the hell is the knock sensor? lol
WJM
when the airfuel mixture ignites before ti supposed to, it creates a ping/knock sound...the knock sensor is designed to pick up those exact vibrations created from the preignition/detonation/knock/ping or whatever you want to call it. I send a signal of some sort.strenght to the ECU...the ECU then calculates and retards the timing on the disty...reducing the preignition.
