AWD fuse help?

Featured Replies

Just picked up a 91 Legacy AWD that has 3 different brand of tires and looking for where the fuse is-goes?? Thanks Jeff

If you have one. Under the hood, passenger side, near the firewall is where it usually is.

Yea, it's a manual transmssion, so do I screw things driving without matched tires? Thanks, Jeff

thanks. You really cannot do anything on a manual except pull the center driveshaft out and seal the rear of the tranny with a plug.......or else find 4 cheap matched tires. They need to measure around the tire with a string within 1/16 to 1/8 inch of each other for roundness. You can get them closer by fudgin air pressure.

other options include only driving on mud/gravel/snow/slippery ice, as the drag created by mis-sized tires will not cause damage on those surfaces.

i've heard of people having tires shaved to match. shave the one that's larger, or shave a new one to match the other three. not sure who/where does that service though. FWD burnouts?

you don't pull the driveshafts in EJ manual trans vehicles, only older generation stuff where you can lock the center diff. and when you do you don't need to cap the trans, just remove the rear half of the shaft, the front portion seals it so you leave it.
