got a P0032 code on a 2003 Subaru Legacy EJ25.

 

Has a new front O2 sensor in it (didn't install it so I don't know the brand).

 

Any words of advice besides replacing it?

looks like this happens with aftermarket sensors. folks are saying to use Subaru OEM, Denso or another brand....but not bosch. not sure which one is on there now.

Sorry gg, gotta' disagree with you there. Bosch makes excellent O2 sensors. As a matter of fact, they invented them!

 

Until someone presents some hard proof, what "folks are saying" is nothing but old wives' tales.

 

What is the " P0032 code"? I can't find a definition anywhere.

you're not disagreeing with me, i just googled it and skimmed some other subaru forums and regurgitated it, didn't really think about it. i always thought the bosch sensors were the way to go....so i'm in your camp probably.

yeah sorry, i was flipping through FSM's, google, and USMB all in about 7 minutes, so i was processing quickly, not effectively.

 

i'll try another O2 and see what happens. code comes back instantly every time i clear it, so something is amiss.

 

plan is to swap the sensor, paying attention to the wiring/connector as i do for any signs of issues.

 

odd - that code is not listed in my 2000 FSM (which i assumed similar enough to 2003).

Denso IMO. Although Bosch invented the O2 sensor not all vehicles like them. Jeep Grand Cherokees  hate them. They just don't run right in 90s jeeps. NTKs are good also.  Denso is OEM.

Thanks I will stick to Japanese brands. That's what I was leaning toward.

Lots of Subarus use Bosch sensors as OE. But I've seen Denso as well. I generally try to match what's on the car if I think its the original.

 

I've seen plenty of cars have issues with replacement Bosch sensors, and have seen plenty more with problems from cheapo no-name sensors.

Ok will swaping the front forthe rear work? Or are both heated? Anyoneget the universal Denso that is a third of the price and wire in the connector them selves?

Need to find out if your car has CA or Federal emission. This will be on the emissions sticker on the hood, assuming the hood is original.

Order the sensor to match.

Front and rear sensors are different.

 

Universals will only work if you car meets Federal emission.

Under jood sticker says " conforms too US EPA NLEV and California 2003 LEV Standards?"

AND Californey emissions.

Ok so need the more expensive direct fit one. Awsome, stupid CA!
