SUBARU3
Anybody have ideas, suggestions, or options to manage a light surface rust covering the bottom of a Gen 1 ? Car is a southern car, so no salt rust, but the car was never undercoated, so after 30 years, there is surface rust present all over the bottom. Again, the car is sold as a rock though. Can this be pressure washed and then sealed? Whats a good product to convert surface rust and seal? Your thoughts? Thanks Edited July 15, 2011 by SUBARU3
fignuts
Check out this stuff: http://www.monstaliner.com/monstaliner_how_to_stop_rust.htm It is similar to POR-15 but it works better (in my opinion) and is less expensive. I just used their bed liner and they included a quart of the Chassis Saver - it is excellent stuff, easy to use, and looks amazing.
elcaminokurt
Permatex makes an aerosol rust converter that turns rust into a paintable black surface. I have used the product with good results. The areosol would make it easy to apply under your car. You could then follow up with a good quality chassis paint. Kurt
Subafreak
Ive had good luck with the por15. They have an etching fluid that also rezincs the metal. So far its working great. That monstaliner looks like good stuff as well. Might have to check it out.
