Oil leak 85 Brat EA81

Featured Replies

Not the oil sending unit. its leaking from somewhere high on the block(not Valve covers) ive degreased the engine and i cant find it. Help, costing a fortune in oil considering i keep Royal Purple in it

I had a pretty good oil leak on the front of my Brat when I bought it 15 years ago. Ran down the oil pressure sending unit and would have appeared to be the front main seal. Turns out the oil pump housing itself was cracked causing the leak. Really hard to see in place. It actually came off in two pieces when I replaced it. May not be your problem but something you could check. Maybe you could use a small mirror and check the pump. I wouldn't be using Royal Purple if I was dumping it all over the place.

Are you ticking at all? I agree with above, check out the oil pump.
