Need a key for my wagon

Featured Replies

Hey guys can anyone here get me a key for my 84 wagon if i get the door code?

The guy i bought it from (my co-worker) lost the keys and was going to crush the car. Or is there some other way to easily get a new key made?

try any other older subaru keys you have lying around. pretty easy to use one key in multiple cars, particularly the older ones that are warn out.

the Subaru dealer can usually cut a key just off the VIN. you could at least call and ask them if they can find the key code from that. if it was originally recorded with the sale of the vehicle they'll have that information. which is usually the case.

if you can simply get them to tell you the code, then any locksmith can cut the key for you with the code as well.

or simply have a dealer cut you one and go get it. i don't even know how many times i've done this, it's been a bunch.

Yep going to the dealer with your Vin, and you shouldn't have any problems.

I have used all 12 subaru keys i have. non of them work. Also the nearest subaru dealer is 100 miles away, and there aren't any reputable locksmiths in my town

I know that the key code is on the passenger door, but i don't know if anyone here could do anything with it.

Maybe contact your subaru dealership and they might be able to mail it to you? :brow:

maybe. on the same note, how hard is it to remove a lock cylinder on a gen 2 after it has locked without a key?

I agree with trying other old Subaru keys. I have a wad (I mean a WAD) of old Subaru keys I keep taking from the Junkyard, so far, 5 of them work in my Loyale (One came from a '93 Impreza L) My original Legacy key worked in my buddies car, and so did a few others I had.

Amazing. No subaru is safe ;)

Yes, the dealer can get you a key cut from your VIN, BUT Subaru can only use VINs dating from 1985 and newer so my dealer told me.

1995 and newer. databases don't go before 95.

That's not completely true. Might depend on your Subaru dealership, mines gone back as far as 84 since that's the oldest I've tried to get(I might try to see if they can get my 78 brat key).

1995 and newer. databases don't go before 95.

Is that SubaruCity? They told me '85 when I went there in serach of an '83 Fuel Tank.

It could be a dealer thing, but I think SOAs datebase is '85 and newer.
