Whitch clutch?

Featured Replies

What clutch should I get and where should I get it? I have a 88 gl 5sp D/R and would like to get the best one I can get. Can I use the one for the H6 or does some one offer a Heavy Duty clutch kit?

Earl

get the one that fits the car. it will last 100k miles and then some. thats about as good as you can hope for, unless you are pushing some boost, and have some serious hp.

35 bucks for just the disc, and to bearing and pilot bearing, from thepartsbin.com

I'm looking into the XT6 clutch for an EA82T question myself, for Garner's mondo Brat build. Am going to compare the two discs for myself tomorrow when they get here from my warehouse. Pressure plate, throwout bearing and pilot bearing are exactly the same according to the book. I'll let you know what I see tomorrow.

LUK brand rocks. Not the cherapest, but far from the most expensive too. I got mine from "dial a clutch".com Later, Tim

Tim -

Did you get the XT6 clutch or the one for the EA82?

Ea82. one on our 87 wagon and one in my 86 Hatch 5spd conversion. Comes as a whole kit for about $225. Tim

Sorry Earl, but I have to do this. Which witch are you looking for???

The disc for the XT6 has 6 springs instead of the 4 dual spring packs the EA82 disc has. The spring pack on the XT6 disc sits closer to the friction, as well. Finally, the XT6 disc itself is mounted a little bit closer to the bottom when you have both of them sitting on a flat surface. No apparant benefit in using the XT6 disc, and probably some actuation issues.
