Watch out for "OAW" branded water pumps!

Featured Replies

Had one of these fail at about 5k miles. Massive leakage from the weep hole. Customer paid no attention to the temp gauge and destroyed the motor - ran it without coolant down the freeway till it wouldn't run any more....

This was included in one of the Mizumoauto kits from ebay. The kits seem to be fine otherwise but these cheap pumps from Singapore are hit and miss it seems. If you buy their kit get it with the Aisin water pump.

Glad mine came with the Aisin pump, then!

EDIT: Whoa! I just read that website...it's TERRIBLE! I don't trust any part from a company that can't afford or is to cheap to get a translator that can speak English! I'm scared by that stuff...

Yes the Aisin pumps are great. They are the OEM for Toyota and some other's - and they may be the OEM for Subaru on the newer stuff. NPW is my second choice - that's short for Nissan Pump Manufacturing. They are also Japanese pumps and of excellent quality.

OAW even sounds like a cheesy name. :-p TRW sounds like a cheesy name too but they make OE parts for so many cars it'll make your head spin.

Thanks for the tip GD!

Am I right in assuming this to be the cheapest Mizumo kit option? I installed a Mizumo kit with a GMB water pump a couple of months ago; that pump appeared to be well made. Nothing leaks so far.

i have used the nissan pump works NPW pumps before. I always go aisin... but htat is just me. On the EA82, I was able to source a paraut water pump (OEM)
