May 23, 201213 yr You guys were great last time i had a problem, hopefully you can help me again, I'm getting a knocking, not sure where its from, But i can have it at an idol and rev it, and it sounds great, but when its in a gear, and i give it light gas, i get a pretty loud knocking.. Remember i don't know much so please explain in child terms lol
May 23, 201213 yr With all the information at hand, I would say it is the fault of greece leaving the EU causing the knocking. Now if you give us more information... Year, model, engine, transmission, mileage. Then Exactly when does this happen? Is the car hot or cold, does it go away at all with increas of engine speed. What recent work has been done to the car.
May 23, 201213 yr Author It's a 1985 Subaru Gl wagon, Recent work, i got instructions from a post and re-timed the belts, i doubt its the problem its been running fine for weeks, And the car is at normal temperature, oh the engine is a 1.8l i believe, And with increase of gas is dulls, but then gets louder when i back off the gas some, But stops all-together when the pedal is untouched, downshifting, or just idling.
May 23, 201213 yr Author by the way, whats a eu and why is grease leaving it lol Sigh nvm, im a little slow, i see wut u did there
May 23, 201213 yr Well right now we are taking history, as it can still ba anything at this point. Is it a hallow sounding knock?
May 23, 201213 yr Author It litterally sounds like a fan hitting something, but its coming from idk right on the other side of the firewall
May 23, 201213 yr Author I did some testing on the way home, going about 15mph i put it in 3rd, it got higher and hollower, 4th even hollower, and 5th it sounded like a baseball card on a bike wheel
May 23, 201213 yr The way you describe it it sounds like a wrist pin... Hopefully not..Thats what i was thinking. Is that it? Edited May 23, 201213 yr by nipper
May 24, 201213 yr Author i cant hear it at the moment, but i had the hood up and pulled the accelerater alot and it sounds good, i only hear it when im in gear in motion
May 24, 201213 yr Author its front wheel drive, but has 4x4, if its a cv or w/e can i dmg it more by driving it?
May 26, 201213 yr Author Ok the clunking stops when shifting a gear, does that cancel out it being a transmission problem?
May 26, 201213 yr where in Wa are you? im near tacoma and can look @ your car. i feel like two brains could hash this out. pm me if ya wanna get together
May 27, 201213 yr Author I moved here from new jersey, so im not sure of distances around here, but i live in Centralia
May 28, 201213 yr Author Ok so its my right front cv, Does anyone have any "How to" video's on how to uninstall and reinstall a new one?
May 28, 201213 yr Author Well ************ it, Somehow the car locked up and now all the transmission fluid is on the ground and where the bolt that holds it all in, theres a crack across the transmission. Its just one problem after Another.
