MSSLGECKO
I just got back home last night w/ my Super Sube and let me just say it rules. John (Mudrat) built her up darn well for me and was a huge help. The setup is in my signature, so give 'er a lookie. For now I'm gonna look at spending $ on things like 27" SSR's and toss a K&N air filter on her. But now w/ the current setup it's fun as hell. She sits good on the highway at speed and stays exactly at operating temp. for hours on end w/ no variation. It's got some great power w/ the exhaust opened up and sounds mean to boot. Plans are as follows (when money becomes available) : *K&N cone filter *Twin Elec. fans *2- or 3-core radiator *Boost Control and Intercooling The greatest part is that I am by no means hurting to get going on the mod.s because it's a blast as it is and burly. John built some dual tube bumpers that make the car look pretty cool and will be great for off road use.

MSSLGECKO
Hey there John, Drive was good, Coast was nice. When I left your place it was beautiful (shirt off working on my seatbelt tan) but it got overcast and began to rain as we approached the coast. Stopped and got some good pic.s on the coast, so that was nice. Stayed the night in Newport instead of Cannon Beach then drove home. We actually had a minor fiasco in portland. I left the car idleing for about 10 min.s and when I got back Jo had turned it off cause there was steam coming from the Rad and the temp was climbing. Well, we found a plastic white (drain?) plug on the pass. side of the Rad. had worked open a bit and we tightened it down. I've noticed it cools well when driving, but heats up a little bit when left sitting and running. I'm thinking this is an issue that could be solved by going to a 2-core Rad. and twin elec. fans. Any ideas where I should get those? I'll figure it out. She ran great on the highway all the way home and temp.s stayed at op. temp. perfectly. Good gas mileage too. I'm picking up the photos today I'll get the good ones to you soon as I get them on a computer. The home crew is loving the car. Everyone said it was way nicer than they thought it would be. (Everyone doubted me.) The family has not seen it yet, still in Georgia. -Noah
Stupidru
Cool, I never seen those decals. How does the 5speed perform? Do you have 15" pugs? What mpg are you getting?
ShawnW
So thats what a silver lifted turbo wagon looks like in the daylight! Heres mine. http://usmb.net/albums/ShawnW/HighRes_WF14A0312043946251.jpg I have the 3" lift kit but 5spd RX trans instead of the 3.90 5speed. Mine isn't going to be for offroading just for street and light offroading. Mine is more of an old school Outback philosophy. Yours looks good. A little surface rust on a fender is an easy fix! GeneralDisorder
For EA81's, you don't need a 2-row radiator. The stock radiator is more than enough, and the single fan is too. Your radiator is probably in need of a good going-over. I've had them gone over before, and with a new t-stat, and NO electric fan at all, I could let it sit and idle in the garage without it overheating at all. MSSLGECKO
You could be right about having it gone over, but it's having some troubles sometimes but when moving, it's golden. I feel like either the Rad. isn't working well enough, or the fan isn't pushing enough. But I'd like to address both the fan and the radiator at once. The switch setup that Rooinater posted about w/ 3 possitions seems like it would be a nice way to go. But you dont' think that I should look for a 2-core radiator? It seems like a good idea, but from the sounds of it people are having to mod. ea82 radiators for their ea81's. Or can I find ea81 2-cores? 2 Core Radiator Is this sucker gonna do it for me? It's not too expensive. But it's the only one I could find so far.
GeneralDisorder
Like I said - unless your radiator is bad, I wouldn't replace it. Is it full of nasty fuid? corroded beyond use? Plugged up? If not, then replacing it will only band-aid a problem that is elsewhere. Have you bothered to replace the t-stat, radiator cap, and back flush the system? Fill with good clean 25/75 mix, and test it? Out here on the left coast, bad radiators aren't very common. I've got an EA81 car around here somewhere with 325k on it, and it's fine. Make sure the fins are straight, and not all full of dirt too..... GD
MSSLGECKO
Took the Sube off roading yesterday and it was a blast. Nothing too difficult for the car, I'm sort of feeling her out. But it'll go anywhere I'd take a good sized truck and kick butt! My friend kept getting nervous when we needed clearance in the rear cause he's used to the solid rear axle trucks. I'm lovin' it. As for the radiator, I have not taken the time to look over it and I will today. I need to make tips at work before I can invest in anything but tomorrow will probably be the day for that. On another note, I bought my car a shovel yesterday. It looks cool on the roof rack. And when 4Xing yesterday, my secondary gas tank on the roof rack fell over which was totally undude and made me feel like an idiot. (Should have known better) well, I didn't have a good way to tie it down so that it wouldn't budge until I got the great idea to get a long stick about an inch thick with good flex and bend it over the gas tank and under each side of the rack. Jurry riged that one pretty good. Thanks for the input on the Rad., GD.
