October 16, 201213 yr I'm thinking about getting a car with a phase2 2.5 that has a broken timing belt. When that happens, does it usually eat the pistons? Or can I slap on my set of spare 2.5 sohc heads and call it a day?
October 16, 201213 yr slap a set of 2.2 heads, cometic conversion gaskets, and intake onto it and frankie that beast!
October 16, 201213 yr Author slap a set of 2.2 heads, cometic conversion gaskets, and intake onto it and frankie that beast! Eh, not with a phase2. 2.2 heads don't flow as well, an they're only single port. I'd be much better off having my 2.5 heads decked if I wanted to go that route. Thanks GD, that's what I though, but I wanted to ask just to be sure.
October 16, 201213 yr Usually they just bend valves. GD Rare to see any piston damage. Always valve damage in my experience.

Use Phase I, pre-96 heads was I believe his suggestion. That's the typical "frankie" combination. What's the engine going into? Then decide which Heads and Mani to use.

Again, that doesn't work well with phase2 land. You can't bolt a phase2 intake manifold to phase1 heads.

October 17, 201213 yr Author Switch intakes then. You can't bolt a phase1 intake to a phase2 head... Anyway, the car sold out from under me. Though, armed with this info, I'm not worried to pick up a different car with a broken belt.

October 18, 201213 yr Author A phase one manifold works with a phase one head. 2.2 or 2.5 phase 1 manifold? I've never heard this before..
