April 17, 200421 yr I was wondering if any one out there knows the correct procedure for adjusting the ignition timing for an EA81T.I assume you disconnect the vacuum advance but I am unsure what RPM the engine should be running at or what the timing should be set to.Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks,Dave.
April 17, 200421 yr Timing is BTDC 15 +/- 3 deg @ 800rpm And just plug the disty pressure hose. The timing marks are on top of the crank pulley.
April 18, 200421 yr Author I got it set at 15 btdc.It was at 5 btdc.What a difference correct timing makes.Thanks a bunch Turbone.
April 19, 200421 yr Author Turbone is it normal to be completely out of advance at 15 degrees btdc.I double checked my timing because I had timed it off of cylander #2 instead of #1.It was only off by 2 degrees but when I put it to #1 at 15 btdc it is out of adjustment.Thanks for the help,Dave.
April 19, 200421 yr The disty could be a tooth off. Or maybe you have the wires on the disty wrong? With the cap off, the rotor should be pointing at 11 o' clock (TDC). Rotation is counterclockwise, and the cylinders are numbered; 3 4 1 2 And the firing order is 1,3,4,2 Check this and report back, eh?
