Stupidru
A friend replaced head gaskets on his xt6, but he went silicone crazy. Now the silicone broke loose & is clogging the oil ports. Has anyone had any success with oil additives to break the silicone loose. This happened to me back 10 years ago, I ended up taking heads back off to clean-up my mess. He already replaced the oil pump to no avail.
Guest taprackready
Once RTV hardens I don't know of anything that will dissolve it. Perhaps he could drop the oil pan and look at the pickup tube to see if its obstructed. Bill
GeneralDisorder
Anything that would eat silicone, would destroy the block and heads in the process..... I'm afraid he'll have to tear it apart to clean that stuff out. The HG's themselves might be salvageable..... but don't count on it. WJM
Gas east silicone. I know this. I tried to fix a gas tank with silicone...the silicone melted...i dont know if the same holds true of RTV...
baccaruda
well, since silicone is oil soluble, then his gaskets aren't going to last long simply from being exposed to the oil the gaskets are in contact with. might be best to pull the motor and redo the gaskets with a nonsilicone sealant..
