January 8, 201412 yr Just purchased a beautiful 1998 Outback Legacy. One of the small details I dislike about it is the wood trim pieces. Any thoughts? Replacement? Swap?
January 8, 201412 yr Find one in the junkyard that has black trim, and just swap it out. I did that when I had my 98, I hated the fake wood trim.
January 8, 201412 yr 95 to 99 legacy (outback) interiors are swappable. check out the linh below to see which ones have the ''fake wood plastic trim''. i think the GT had it. i had a 97 OBW LTD and i dont remember the fake wood trim, but i could just not remember, a senior moment if you will. January 9, 201412 yr Some outbacks have the wood trim, some don't. Your best bet is an L model 2nd gen anything. All the trim pieces are the same sedan/wagon. The only difference is auto/manual.
January 16, 201412 yr Author Took some carbon fiber vinyl to the wood trim pieces. Doesn't look professional, doesn't look like a five year old did it. Quick fix until I replace with something more permanent. Thanks for the help.
