Repairing old leone 1986 -- problem with MAF sensor

Featured Replies

i am from belarus and now repairing subaru leone 1986 1.8 MPFI , i have problem with engine --  when i  starting it  up it is  working   about 10 seconds at 3000 rpm   and fade, without  Maf sensor engine works at 1500 rpm, but unsteady,  i think problem in maf sensor ? how can i check maf sensor ? i have no possibility to take other maf sensor , because subaru  leone is very rare car in our country ( excuse me my english)

Perhaps this might help @  http://www.ch601.org/engines/files/SubaruEA82-ServiceManualPart2.pdf    ..Page 91

Your MAF is not in that manual.

Probably not the problem.

Check it w/an ohmmeter or voltmeter while moving the flap,

Sounds more like a large leak in the rubber intake pipe/associated plumbing or PCV hoses.

Check fuel pressure too.

The MPFi EA82 engine is Rare in the USDM (united States Domestic Market), but very common in the AUDM (Australian Domestic Market), and LADM (Latin American Domestic Market) so, your subie's engine bay looks similar to this one, isn't it?

Yes it is , but it came to belarus from germany and the wheel is on the left side

  • 3 weeks later...

Check the PCV breather hose on the intake boot, they like to fall off when you open the filter box.
