My 2001 outback auto trans has started to take about 30sec to go into drive. Does anyone have anyone know how to fix this problem short of changing the trans. I have been told that a fluid and filter change might work. After it goes into drive everything works fine until I turn the engine off and go to start it up then the problem of the 30sec wait starts.  Need help Gunner

yes this is a very typical problem with 2001, and Trans-x is the solution.

Uhm... Have you checked the transmission fluid level? I know the ~2000 Soobie transmissions have a delayed engagement problem, but you may want to check the level first. Replacing the ATF won't hurt, though. Just make sure you fill the correct hole
