Mike get your head gaskets changed. It seams that 2.5 engines need them changed around 100.000 miles Find someone that is good but cheaper than the dealer. Un less you have the money. Good luck

My 2001 outback auto trans has started to take about 30sec to go into drive. Does anyone have anyone know how to fix this problem short of changing the trans. I have been told that a fluid and filter change might work. After it goes into drive everything works fine until I turn the engine off and go to start it up then the problem of the 30sec wait starts. Need help Gunner

For a 2004 not a bad price even if you had to spend sat another 2000 to 2500 if the rest of the car is good look at the prices for one that is running. Find someone that really knows something about Subaru's to do the work. I paid 2400 for mine and had to put about 2000 in body work, and bakes little things. Now the trans if acting funny but I still like the car. No car payment ( smile ) Good luck. Gunner

Hi people, I am glad to know that there are other Subaru lovers out there. I have a 2001 outback got it used this year think I paid to much for it 2400 with 160,000 miles but the engine and trans are good so far. Put about 10,000 miles on it so far. Had to do the usual things you do to a used car brakes, body work ( rust in the usual Subaru places ) The body man did a great job. l did the rest of the work myself . Been working on cars since I was 16 teen. I am a old guy now. But so far I am happy with it. Going to put a new radio, shocks and a few other things. I wonder if you can get any more house power out of these engines short of changing the engine. will someone out there let me know. I will post a picture of my car soon take car soon. If anyone is in up state PA or New York let me know I am near Binghamton. Gunner -
