95 Outback w 2.5?

Featured Replies

Saw an interesting local ad for a 1995 Outback with the 2.5.   Only 155k miles.  I have not checked the car out yet but I have gotten conflicting info about whether or not that motor was offered for the '95.  Is the owner mistaken?

2.5 was not offered until '96 so either the owner is confused or someone swapped in a 2.5 (must have received an engine for free!)

This is probably the ad, eh?

Nice work there.

Thanks for the link!

engine was swapped if it's true.

or it's a 1996

or it's a 1995 with an EJ22.

typo's/misinformation abound on used cars, fairly common to be off by a year or so.

i'm going to start sending friends out your way, tons of decent Subarus out there, this thing should roll another 100,000 miles without issue, one of Subaru's best engines ever:

another possible explanation is that

they saw a late 95 build date on the door jamb, (7/95 - 12/95)

and assumed the car was a MY95 instead of the MY96.

this is not uncommon with uninformed sellers.
