August 1, 201411 yr lots of oem part numbers in this thread here. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/147766-subaru-ea-82-oem-part-numbers/ includes head bolts small and large and washers.
August 1, 201411 yr I could not find any locally, I picked through a bunch of old ones I had and selected what looked good, not very technical but all I had at the time, worked fine. I re checked the torque and re torqued after a test drive. still dunno where to get them in Canada.
August 1, 201411 yr 3 short. 6 long. Maybe someone can confirm that. I've always reused ea82 head bolts. I've never had a problem with it. Edited August 1, 201411 yr by markjw
August 2, 201411 yr Yeah... 3 short, 6 long PER HEAD. You can re-use them. I've heard you're supposed to use new washers every time, something about them being spring washers, but I looked at mine and they seemed too thick for that, but what do I know. Bought new washers for my recent rebuild anyway, might have been a waste of money but I guess it's one less thing to worry about. Anyone here know the scoop on the head bolt washers?
August 2, 201411 yr You can re-use both the head bolts and washers. They will both last longer than the threads in the case halves will.
August 2, 201411 yr I still got my old head bolts if anyone wants em for free. Got the intake bolts too.
August 2, 201411 yr I always re-used mine. Never had an issue. I cleaned them up with a wire brush (gently) though.
