May 13, 200421 yr Well, after being a lazy bum...i decided id finish my lowering project. So...its officially done unless something breaks. Here, look! For those of you who will ask...those are springs that are redily avalible and are nowhere near the stock dimensions and springs rates. The car is stiff. The car corners like...like...like....Like Pleiades Legacy GT...but the tires are the limiting factor. It IS a little under dampened...this will get worse since the struts are already qutie used...so I will be looking at a set of OE RX struts front and rear from Folger SUBARU in Charlotte NC. Otherwise, the car handles great so far. Predictable...no sideways action yet tho. I will wait for daylight to really push the limits. Otherwise...its just awesome.
May 13, 200421 yr that looks tight! do the wheels rub at all? its cool what lowering a car can do for its appearance
May 13, 200421 yr Author I used 400 lb springs front and rear....8 inches tall front...cur down to 6, and the rear were 10 inches...cut ot 7. Cut using a portaband, not a torch.
May 13, 200421 yr I honestly thought it was gonna look pretty stupid but it turned out slick; it looks nice. From your descriptoins it sounds like she handles as well as she looks! Fully custom; nice work!
May 14, 200421 yr Author The only complaint is that its hitting the bumpstops on dips...and the dampers are definatly not up to the task of dampening the springs....I need soemthing really stiff to control the movement when the surfaces get ruff...otherwise, its on rails in the corners.
May 15, 200421 yr Damn! I'm starting to like the looks of the drop the more pics I see of it. Nice job Will!
May 17, 200421 yr Geez dude that thing is NICE!!!! I can't wait until I can get the lowering job done on my wagon. It'll be sittin prolly a bit lower than yours but with some 15's under it when I get the hubs redrilled and some very low pro tires, it'll be sittin nice. I too have been looking at getting stiffer springs but since I'm on a tight budget, I can't do those right now so 3 coils out of the stock springs is workin for me:D
May 18, 200421 yr nice job, Will. you know, i just realized that what makes that car look so good lowered (IMO) is the body colored bumpers. nice and smooth.
May 18, 200421 yr Author Thanks. I dont liek the 87+ ones due to the black bumpers....the 85-86 are so much better because of the front/rear bumper design, and the painting of them to match the body. I also like the grille/sidemaker combo on the 85/86 better as well.
