If you are asking if it can be done, yes.  It's been done several times.  The 2.5 is the same procedure as a 2.2, 2.0, or a 1.8.  Check out the retrofitting section.  Plenty of stuff in there.  Also, look for Numbchux guide on the swap.

Yes its been done, but as far as the 25D.... I wouldnt waste my time putting that in just to see it blow up in a hundred miles. If your wanting a 2.5 go with a 251 or 253. 99-02 foresters i do believe, not sure off the top what else they came in, other than just about everything.. haha..

whats bad about a 25d , its just what i already have and its rebuilt w/ 2.2 heads and not the dual cam

I personally don't think there is anything wrong with the EJ25D

the 25d has headgasket problems.

 

a 25d with 22 heads is a franken motor completely different they almost make 190hp as long as you run premium fuel, because its a higher compression engine.

Check the retrofit forum..  IF you already have 2.2 heads on the 2.5 block all you need to look up is the 2.2 write up. Then hold on tight.

so i found the numbchux guide and downloaded the pdf. so now im on the search for the 2.2 write up

read through numbchux file first it may be the same thing and I am just thinking funny.  It would not be the first time

alright well i have some questions now, i got a 1991 loyale, i was wondering if it has the same body style as a gl 1985 or did they change it at all, i have this really cool pic of one slammed and thats pretty much why i decided to get something like that for the swap , i used to like the legacys more but than that changed , i was also hoping that i could use a digital dash from a gl

I think you really need to do some reading. I recommend using google, type in your key words, as well as "usmb", and the threads seem to come up easier than using this sites search function.

if your talking an 85 gl wagon then it should be the same, they have some cross overs with brats and hatches so be careful with parts in those years.
