October 27, 201411 yr That's nothing compared to the 247,000 cars Toyota is recalling for the same grenade shrapnel airbags from Takata: http://www.edmunds.com/car-news/toyota-recalls-247000-cars-for-defective-airbag-inflators.html Many other carmakers are having to issue recalls for these airbags as well. Basically an industry supplier Takata, made defective airbags that affect nearly every maker out there. Not saying you were trying to imply anything, just putting this in context. NOTE: The recall is critical for those that live in moist climates as that is a contributing factor. October 27, 201411 yr it's weird, there are 2 airbag recalls for our 2003. One for the 4 "high absolute humidity" climates, and another with no mention of locale. I put in our VIN at the website and it says our car is unaffected. But this issue is still very fluid and more cars may be recalled since it seems Takata has no info. allowing lot numbers to be traced.

I haven't owned anything but Subarus since 1984 so I wasn't much interested in those "others". it is a Subaru site, but many have multiple vehicles, and/or family members, or others they care about, that may have one of the affected vehicles so I see no problem with posting the entire list, since there are Subarus on it... If it doesnt affect you, then dont worry about it.

I dunno Kind of concerned about the other half's '06 Outback - even tho it only lists 03-05 models for Subaru - so far - there is always that chance?
October 27, 201411 yr I got a recall notice about my '01 Civic last year for the passenger side air bag. The driver's side had already been replaced a few years prior (also under warranty). Shrapnel during air bag deployment did not sound like a fun option (especially since your air bag going off means you are already looking at some issues!).
October 27, 201411 yr maybe they use a different supplier for the Forester? I dunno That's what I'm not sure about. Why would the Forester airbags be made by a different manufacturer? I kind of wonder if the affected vehicles are only US built vehicles? With the Forester being produced only in Japan, the different supplier might make sense.
