April 17, 201510 yr I greased them up real good put my boots on and instaled them the only ither problem i couldent fix was the slop in the splines i tryed packing as much grease in there as i could. You only want about 30/40 percent of the cavity packed or it will pop the the boots off from heat/compression
April 17, 201510 yr Author Ya those are the ones i only packed the barrings and the splines with as much greese as i could i only scooped a 2 finger glob in the boots i dont think i over filled them they should be fine
April 17, 201510 yr No, the Nissan ones are the same as the R200 used in the STi WRXs, even the R180 used in some Datsuns is stronger than our rear diffs. Interchangable tho, with a bit of work. thought the R180 was the sti diff, and r160 was normal and wrx?
April 17, 201510 yr And the STi came with an R180, not an R200. And the wrx has a regular R160. Yes. STi is R180. No Subaru has come with an R200.
April 18, 201510 yr Yes. STi is R180. No Subaru has come with an R200. I wonder if the fozzy xt got those... Throw an arb air locker in on a lifted fozzxt.. I can only dream
April 18, 201510 yr I wonder if the fozzy xt got those... Throw an arb air locker in on a lifted fozzxt.. I can only dream Forester xt got the R160 like every other Subaru except for the STi.
April 18, 201510 yr Forester xt got the R160 like every other Subaru except for the STi. Weird. Figured since it's an sti underneath they'd do the rear diff that way
April 18, 201510 yr Weird. Figured since it's an sti underneath they'd do the rear diff that way It's not an STi underneath. It's all Impreza but not STi. They have 4.44 final drive. Both 5spd and the auto. And have a VLSD 4.44 R160 rear diff. The motor is similar to what came in an STi, and the 04 you can actually plug and 04 STi ecu right in, of course you'll want to use the other stuff to go along with it. I did this to mine. STi turbo, intercooler, ecu, everything. And then did the full 6 spd swap with brembos and the R180. It was awesome.
