FWD EA81 5 lug conversion in rear.

Featured Replies

I have an EA81 hardtop coupe that is fwd, and my front wheels are shot, as well as having bald tires. I have a pair of 5 lug wheels just sitting around, so i was wondering if it was possible to convert the rear to a 5 lug. It has drum brakes in the rear. Plus, I think that it would be pretty sweet.

can you machine? ive seen people turn the fat four into 5x100 legacy pattern.

im sure there is a write up somewhere. i think jezeck in latin america did it

I don't have a lot of tools. I was considering a 6 lug swap though. Should I attempt it with a regular drill rather than a drill press? I could use a 6 lug wheel as a template and they're pretty cheap on craigslist.

And if I were to go the xt6 route, how would I run the brake lines from the new rear caliper?

And should I get parts off a fwd or awd xt6 or are they the same?

Edited by Whatever

if you get parts from an awd make sure to get the outer axle stubs so you can use them to hold your stuff together. might have to het the trailing arms too. easier to get fwd stuff, but im not sure xt6s came in fwd flavor

No 5X100, I did 4X114.3 redrill since 1996.

I've redrilled many other local Subarus to 4X114.3 since then...

Kind Regards.
