April 1, 201511 yr Hoping to pick up an EJ this weekend. Need some measurements to build a wood cradle to sit it in for the trip back home. Cradle(with EJ in it) will be hauled in the Wife's Chevy HHR. I'll be building the cradle out of what ever 2x4/2x6/2x/8 scrap lumber I have here. Just need the dimensions for a good solid support of the engine during the trip. Good fit around oilpan, and outriggers to help support the head area.
April 3, 201511 yr I've always just chucked them in a tire. Oil pan drops into the hole where the rim went and the tire supports the heads.
April 3, 201511 yr ^ What WoodWagon says.I'm not close to any of my EJ's at the moment so can't measure anything for you I'm sorry. Oil leaks/dirty engine are usually the main concern for me.I do like your idea of the wooden create though - good for packing other things in too. CheersBennie
April 3, 201511 yr Author Thanks for the info. Have assorted lenghts of lumber, 16" tire, and ratchet straps loaded up, along with "Hopefully" all the needed tools. Heading out early in the morning.
April 4, 201510 yr @TomRhere Good Luck! I hope you end up with a really nice one I am sure the HHR is nice inside, perhaps throw down a tarp or contractors bag under the old tire to contain the inevitable leakage. It will help keep a happy home life
