June 16, 201510 yr Hi everyone got a 1990 subaru legacy as my daughter's 1st vehicle. I need an owners manual. Any advice on this would be appreciated. There are levers and switches I don't know what they do. like the manual button on the gear shift. And the red button at the base of the gear shift it looks like a lock button for a door lock. Thanks in advance for any help.
June 16, 201510 yr Years back I had a 91 Legacy. The manual button I never used. I think activating it resulted in the tranny locked in a specific gear. I could never think of where that would ever be needed.
June 16, 201510 yr Author My father told me they used to have automatic transmissions that could be used as a manual transmission. He never saw one but thought this might be one. He had no idea how it worked.
June 16, 201510 yr Author Does anyone know if getting a copy of the owners manual would be able to be ordered.
June 16, 201510 yr I don't know how complete it is, but there is a 90 legacy owners manual on this site: http://www.main.experiencetherave.com/subaru_manual_scans/
June 16, 201510 yr Author Thank you anything is better than nothing.new to this site, just today. Still learning how to use it. Again thanks
June 16, 201510 yr The Manuel button is basically an early form of traction control, it only operates when the shifter is in 3 or 2 and it holds the transmission out of first gear
June 17, 201510 yr Author Next issue. Now my daughter has opened the sun roof. But it will now not close. Hoping it is a fuse issue. Anyone n Know where the inside fuse box is?
June 19, 201510 yr It has a safety feature of closing to approx 3/4 of the way then stopping. Releasing and pressing the button again will let it close. Or if it REALLY has died, there is a manual close portal under the lone plastic cap in the headliner, above the rear seat. The bellcrank for the manual operation is under the lid of the center console. The MANUAL button will keep the transmission from down shifting into 1st at a stop/slow speed condition in order to prevent major wheel spin for the heavy-footed in poor traction conditions. June 21, 201510 yr have you gotten an owners manual yet? If not, I have one or two lying around I would be willing to part with for shipping costs.
