ABS light on in 2006 Baja. Where to start looking for short?

Featured Replies

computer can't communicate with abs from plug in. was wondering where to start search myself. Sensor at brakes?

I fought the ABS light in my 98 for a couple of years.  It didn't hurt anything with it on so I just ignored it.

Turned out being the inertia switch was bad.

Which computer is trying to communicate where?

The ABS systems are straight forward, look at the speed sensors and tone rings to start.

the ABS light on my '06 Baja comes and goes.  on one day; off the next

when it's on - read the code.  there's a grounding pin above the brake pedal - ground it and the ABS light flashes the code.  look up the procedure, pins, and where to place the pin to get the light to flash.

it takes like 7 minutes, just need to find the thread detailing how to do it, super easy.

a sensor can be caked up with gunk or corroded, in which place you clean or replace it.

might be other issues too - best to get that code when the light is on.
