Drivers Side foot well wet

Featured Replies

Well I have put the motor install on hold since it has been raining since Tuesday.   Today I was grabbing a tool and noticed the foot well on drivers side is wet.    Car is on jack stands and tilted back.

Would this be the windshield seal?    Just re-seal with more silicone?

It could be a window seal, a coolant leak (like say a hose has fluid in it and it transferred through the firewall, or there could be a rust hole in the foot well area, and water dripping down from up top entered.

The best way to locate sources of internal leaks is to lift the carpet and padding back, DRY everything thoroughly (like a rag and fan if needed) then put some newspaper down. Can even tape it to the vertical walls of the metal behind the pedals. Take your garden hose and douse the top of the car until the paper gets wet. The water will streak the paper.

my 96 doing the same thing on both sides.

I think its the seal along the top of the window and or down the sides of the window.

Need to pull back the trim pieces and seal I guess.

mcnea001,

If you have a sunroof, it'll be that front drain tube ... either split or has come off the drain tube. If no sunroof, then it'll be the windshield.
