Flashing Check Engine Light

Featured Replies

I have a 2000 Subaru Forester with 210,000 miles on it. When I start it, it idles fine. However, as soon as I put it into gear (either drive or reverse) the RPM drop down to 4-500RPM and the check engine light starts flashing. I have had a history of a misfire on my #2 cylinder. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I might be looking at with these issues?

Without the code everyone would be just guessing.

You can get the code red for free at Auto Zone and Advance Auto and perhaps other parts stores.

Then once the give you the code you can come back and post it.

Flashing CEL means you have a persistent misfire. What's the history of your misfire and what have you done to remedy it? You're missing a lot of the story that might help us figure out the issue.

when those issues come up. the basics of a tune up are what you do first. new spark plugs and new NGK plug wires

Flashing is multiple cylinder misfire.  Install new Stock NGK plugs only.
