Okay I know this question that's probably came up a thousand times but I am brain farting I can't remember when installing the oil pump the bigger Gear with the letter B on it dose it go in or out facing the engine

Your answer is kind of contradicted itself you say out but that wouldn't be facing the block so does point out with the letter b towards the radiator

 Faces "out" as you're looking at the backside of the pump.

Faces "in" would be towards the pump, away from you

That side faces the installer as seen in a mirror while looking over his shoulder reaching around the engine stand from the back of the engine.

see the little bit at the end of your post ? I used an expression typed by your fingers to help you work it out - out facing the engine sort of contradicts my thinking, so I had to adapt to yours to give an answer you would understand - hOK?

B facing block is easier to recall which way is out - depending on how you look at things

start again, would be three weeks since I pulled an EA82 oil pump off and that is how I carefully noted things as I stashed the thing away - where I no not now !
