What year did Subaru start producing Outbacks with higher clearance? I like being able to get to my adventure, and so it would be nice to know what years to look at.

if no one knows, you might dig around www.cars101.com for the specifications of various year models but, keep in mind, the older the car, generally, the more likely a failure could occur out in the boonies.

HI,

1996 was 1st year of higher GC, w/bigger tires, struts, etc.('95 was just another trim level).

 

'96 also had the better EJ22e w/the 5-speed, or the EJ25D w/the Automatic. I'd start looking @  the '97+ years.

just as an FYI - it is not hard to get higher clearance on a standard legacy.. a simple strut assembly swap will do the trick.

 

I am running a 95 Legacy L wagon with Forester struts/springs and Forester 15" wheels - the extra height is nice on old knees.
