July 5, 20169 yr I just bought a 98 legacy gt for parts. The body has a lot of rust got it mainly for the wheels and the low mileage engine. Noticed that the struts didn't look too old it does ride really nice. I know the struts and the rest of the suspension is the same as my 97 impreza. I was wondering I can't seem to find anything about it does the gt have a sport suspension or is it the same the legacy?
July 5, 20169 yr I know the struts and the rest of the suspension is the same as my 97 impreza. Not quite. The Rear top hats are the older style /bolt pattern- like the '90-'94 legacy. And the rear sway bars differ, from what I've read....but may still fit. And looking @ cars101.com shows the same dimensions for the Legacy L, LS, GT Sedan and for the Wagon. If you look on the KYB site it may spec a different strut for the GT, and springs may be stiffer.
July 5, 20169 yr Author I thought that it looked like it sat a little lower than a regular legacy,it does sit a little lower than my impreza. Ya I forgot about the top hats being different I would've remembered when I went to put them I'm. Lol.
July 5, 20169 yr Small variations. If yours is old/sagging/ rusted out then swap the rear tophats onto the GT stuff, install the legacy suspension on the impreza and drive on. Otherwise there's nothing really special about them. Unless yours are failing you wont notice much if any difference. Edited July 5, 20169 yr by AdventureSubaru
