Electric Impact Wrenches...

Featured Replies

I am looking around for an electric impact wrench. I would like to know what folks experiences with them has been, which ones are junk. I have seen in videos these being used and I want to get one myself, preferably with the light that comes on to light the work area.

there's some great threads from a year or two ago about them - Milwaukee i think was mentioned a lot from memory....sort of depends on price range too. i'd find that old thread.

If you're looking for a high end electric impact, Mac Tools (Dewalt) sells one that does 1200 ft-lb break-away

I use this exact one literally ever day. Love it. I've used it to take off tractor trailer tires. It works to take them off, but it gets them off. Our truck guys usually use a 1" gun on those.

I have a 1/2" drive 20V Dewalt and some other 20V Dewalt tools.  The impact is probably good to about 200ft-lbs.  It lasts a long time on a battery, you could probably change a dozen sets of tires.  The higher capacity (4 or 5 Ah) batteries cost quite a bit more but are much more convenient than the little ones the tools sometimes come with.

I use a DeWalt impact every day at work. When somebody else has the DeWalt,i use the snap on. Then, after the snap on fails to get the job done, I go get the DeWalt. So yeah, go DeWalt.
