June 9, 200421 yr I'm jes wondering whot the numbers on these were? I've seen a good number of GL-5's, but only 1 DL-5, EVER! If'n they are rare I might try to save this one (if it's saveable), if not, I'll jes let it go. Thanks..
June 9, 200421 yr Could you elaborate on just what the "5" designation means? I've seen them listed in manuals but never actually noticed one. Is it something like the "GL-10" designation?
June 10, 200421 yr Author not sure really, the car it's self is an 80 hatch, with a 5spd 2wd tranny, and an EA71. Didn't look like there was anything really special about it. From what I see the -5 might mean 5spd, but there were GL-5's also, so I dunno.
June 10, 200421 yr maybe it's like the gl 5 but with crappy seats? are they vinyl? i've had a 1980 hatch std and a 1980 "1800 dl automatic" hatch. i am interested in where the dl5 fits in. what about the guage cluster? i'll bet you have a very rare subaru there. that and 35 cents gets you a phonecall. i'll bet it's just like my "1800 dl automatic" only with a ea71 with manual trans. what's the headlight situation? square or round?
June 10, 200421 yr I saw one GL-5 around the Tahoe area quite a few years ago. Kinda blew my mind cuz I've never seen one before. It was a blue ea-81 wagon. I believe it was turbo. I spotted it on the freeway, there wasn’t much time to investigate.
June 10, 200421 yr You mean like these? I'm sure it's just a trim level. God only knows what specifically tho.... Now - if you find one of these.... GD
