i have a manual 5 speed and i lookd at the connectors behind the computer and several arent connected to anything. there are also another several right next to the battery that arent connected. there isnt even spots for any of them to connect. is it suppose to be that way?

Yes, some plugs go to nothing on most cars and others can be plugged in to do things like check codes or set timing.

Try locating a factory service manual.  Either Ebay or online free download / view. 

Alot of the ones by the computer are for power options your car doesnt have. I have a bunch going to nothing. Ones by the strut tower are for test mode and resetting codes
