Smashed oil pan

Featured Replies

Hello everyone I have a 1991 loyale that had to get dragged out over rocks. My oil pan took some hits but I was wondering if it is still reusable. There are no cuts or holes in the pan. Thanks everyone!

I'm sure it is so long as the stem of the oil sump is not hitting the bottom...

I scraped mine a couple times.. that's what happens when i decide to go offroading the day after repairs... skid plate 4 bolts super easy its on there now that's for sure.. ;)

Looks like alot got smashed off the bottom lol !! Are ya atleast alright? Does the clock work now? ;)

I personally wouldn't use it, especially since it looks like an offroader.

The integrity of the pan has been severely compromised. Next time you take a hit, it'll probably rip the pan open instead of denting. Also it looks to be worn thin in some places, wouldn't not take much of a rock to cut through.

A good skid plate should also be in your future to avoid that happening again.

Yeah toss it and find a new one, thats what killed my 84 gl, dented the oil pan and didn't really notice, a week later the engine seized going down the highway, pulled the pan off the pickup tube was right up against the pan, not getting any oil, better to be safe.

I'm totally wishing I had a skidplate on my car. Good thing my other loyale has one that I can steal. The knuckle snapped and I had to get dragged back 2 miles scraping everything off. It was pretty rad haha. A couple more of these beatings and then hopefully the clock will work

Ya i was stoked that my brat came with it's skidplate but it wasn't installed so that was the very first thing i did after i put the rebuilt motor back in the seats are the next thing i put back.

you've already pulled the pan?  i'd definitely replace it, is there any reason not to replace it?  doesn't seem like it would be hard to get another EA82 oil pan for cheap.

find a skidplate or make one-its easy to to tag a rock without even noticing it. As far as the knuckle breaking, become one with your inner redneck, ducttape, ratchet straps, pieces of wood, etc have been used to limp vehicles off the trail before.
