94 loyale bare and broken wires under dash

Featured Replies

Digging into other issues ive stumbled upon a mess under the dash of bare and broken wires. If anyone could help me out and post up some pictures of whay its supposed to look like it would make my life alot easier and i would appriciate it

All of the wiring under the dash or just under the steering column? Do a search and I'm sure you can find a diagram. If it's under the steering column I can snap pics tonight

It's by the fuse box I tried to upload a picture with my last post but the pictures were too big

Use a photo editor to crop and / or re size them smaller.

Awesome i appriciate it if you could get some closer to the fuse box and behind it that would be greatly appriciated

There are about 3 screws that hold the fuse box in place. Remove them, and you can get some different angles /access. There are a lot of wires so it will be stiff to move.

In the second picture i dropped the fuse box and theres a couple of wires that are bare and broken in that one too i just need to know where they go and what goes where so i can replace them

This is what im dealing with i didnt think about croping them

In the 1st pic, those wires appear to have been smashed together enough to destroy the insulation. That caused a short, and heated the Black wires enough to burn off the insulation on them, also burning those wires in two.

The pic in post #11 shows even more  of those burnt wires.

It also shows a Blue wire that appears to have been burnt in two itself.

Look at the upper left of center in that pic and you'll see it

Not 100% on it, but it looks like there is heat damage to the insulation of other wires in all of your pics.

Yea thats porbably whaf happened but im just not sure where what is broken goes so i can put new wires in and im not so good at readinf wiring diagrams so all the help is deffinetly appreciated

Wagon? I can try to get pictures of an undamaged one.

Here is the back of a fuse block.  EA82 Not sure what year.   Most should be the same.

If you can find a FSM - either in paper or online download, and can identify the wires you are missing / burned / broken I [and likely others]  can more easily identify them.

I have a 90 FSM.  A few things are different - My 92 and 93 have those annoying motorized lap belts.  My 90 and older had regular ones.  So far, the 90 manual has been good for the 92 and 93.

I wonder if those burnt wires have anything to do with a stereo install gone wrong. Stock ea82 has a common ground on the speakers.
