subaru_styles
so when my new motor goes in i will be using a XT6 flywheel and clutch. Q: to start off with the xt6 flywheel is lighter than stock. SO, should i go further and get that mass taken out and have it lightened? would this make it too light to where i would loose torque? as a note this will be a street car EA82t with 3.9 tranny
carfreak85
Well, since the XT6 flywheel doesn't even weigh a pound less than a regular EA82 flywheel, I would say, take it down more. Yes, lightening it too much will make it harder to get off the line cleanly and may allow the engine to drop out of its power band, but acceleration will be improved! Marck
How much mass should be taken from the XT6 flywheel? I think I heard that 6 pounds can be safely removed from the EA82 flywheel, but what about the XT6 flywheel?
