Timing Belt install / Driver side Cam sprocket question

Featured Replies

Hello,

My Car: 06 Legacy 2.5 SOHC

So I'm going to finally get my Timing Belt on. This is what I notice and I want to make sure it is all correct.

1. Crank Gear Alignment is correct : The Two marks Line Up

2. The Passenger Side is Lined up: There is NO Tension/Resistance to get the lines to line up.

3. The Driver Side is Lined Up: There IS TENSION/Resistance to get the line on the Cam Gear to line up with the line on the back cover (notch)

Is that normal for the Driver side to be under tension?

Sorry if this is a dumb or silly question... just want to make sure I am going this correct

That is exactly how it should be.  There will be a point where the drivers side cam gear will stay in position (marks on gear and notch aligned)

So there is suppose to be tension on the drivers side cam at this point?
