Alternator failure

Crank pulley separation

Serpentine belt compromised

Battery clamp terminal or cable issues

Yes voltages across multiple points.

Do those have external voltage regulators? EA82 and newer do not.

Ea71 or ea81 early years do have external voltage regulators. Ea82 has internal.

Change the voltage regulator at the same time as the alternator - what Subaru recommends.

Bench test the alternator before you leave the store.

Was the engine still running when the lights came on, or just freewheeling? And was it running hot? Any odd noises or vibration, or lack of power? Did it clunk and die, just die, or act like the key got turned off? Do the lights and electronics still work, or is everything dead?

Give us some more info, please.

You guys are awesome. Instead of flaming me for being on the wrong board evrryone offers helpful advice. Everyones suggestions were close, one was dead on. My belt snapped. Thanks all fpr the advice!

Great, glad it was simple.  I think it's an unspoken rule not to flame anything regarding a Brat!
